DESCRIPTION:Join Endswell on Thursday\, June 25 at 6:00 p.m. for an informative presentation on dementia\, assessing your risk\, planning ahead\, and common misconceptions surrounding Medical Aid in Dying (MAID)\, Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking (VSED)\, and Advance Directives.  \n\n\n\nThe presentation will be led by Dr. Beth Rosenberg and Ed Tiryakian of Dying Right NC. \n\n\n\nEd Tiryakian\, J.D.\, MBA\, founded Dying Right NC in 2015 and serves as its Executive Director. Prior to his work in end-of-life advocacy\, he spent many years in international banking throughout Asia before retiring to his native North Carolina. He believes that end-of-life issues are among society’s most pressing challenges\, as increased longevity and the medicalization of dying can sometimes conflict with an individual’s right to make personal choices about how they wish to approach the end of life. \n\n\n\nDr. Beth Rosenberg is a retired cardiologist whose specialties included heart failure and geriatric cardiology. After graduating from the Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel University College of Medicine)\, she completed her postgraduate training at UNC. Her interest in Medical Aid in Dying grew from her experiences caring for patients throughout her medical career and her belief that dying is a natural part of the life cycle.
