Obituary
Claude Hudgins Marshall, Jr., 69, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away on November 15, 2024 from complications of cancer at the Hock Family Pavilion Hospice House in Durham, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Leigh Worthington Marshall; his children, Lauren Anne Marshall and husband, Tristan of Morristown, NJ, Emily McLean Bauer and husband, Eric of Mechanicsville, VA, Catherine Louise Calhoun and husband, Matthew of Hillsborough, NC; his sister, Brenda Louise Willis and husband, William, of Oak Ridge, TN; and his three grandchildren, Madelyn Bauer, Elliott Calhoun, and Harrison Calhoun. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Hudgins Marshall and Geraldine Pitman Marshall of Mathews, VA.
A native of Norfolk, VA, Claude attended Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach and graduated from the University of Richmond, The College of William and Mary, and Reformed Theological Seminary. He worked in various roles in education and college and church ministry, including serving on the campus staff of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and the administrative staff of King University. He was founding headmaster of Summit Christian Academy in Yorktown, VA, and recently retired as Pastor of Care Emeritus at Williamsburg Community Chapel.
An avid birdwatcher and lover of nature and sports, Claude enjoyed gardening and reading history and the writings of the Puritan theologians.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am on November 21, 2024 at Williamsburg Community Chapel, 3899 John Tyler Highway, Williamsburg, VA, and will be livestreamed here. A private family interment service will be held at the University of Richmond Columbarium.
