Obituary

Jack Arnold Livesay was born on March 1st, 1938 in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia. He was raised by his grandparents, William and Sarah Livesay. He would go on to serve one year in the Army, and then start his career with Capital Airlines in September of 1957, and would eventually retire from United Airlines on July 31st, 1994.

He was married to his wife, Hazel Livesay, on September 4th, 1965. Then on March 1st, 1968, they would welcome their only daughter to the family. They would go on to spend a lot of their time traveling, including trips to England, Hawaii, France, Canada, Germany, Holland, Italy, and The Caribbean Islands. Their favorite places to visit, however, were Australia and New Zealand. That is where they made some of their closest friends, as well as some of their most cherished memories. One story they would always tell is the time they visited Australia and got to see Koalas, and how amazing it was to interact with those creatures.

Jack was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1980, which led to making more lifelong friendships. One thing his friends and family well know about him he was how much he loved to tell jokes. He would always come up to you with a new joke, riddle, or pun, with his favorite being how “a newspaper is black and white, and read all over”.

He lived in Virginia, Alabama, California, Texas, and then for the majority of his life, North Carolina. He passed away peacefully on February 21st, 2024. He is survived by his wife Hazel, daughter and son-in-law, and three grandchildren. Jack, and his jokes, will be missed dearly.
