Obituary
Marshall “Davis” Emerson was a Coach, Son, Brother, friend and mentor to many. One of his friends said, “He was the best of us and more”. Anyone who knew Davis would certainly agree. Davis left this world peacefully at the age of 31 on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was a warrior, fighting brain cancer for ten years, having been diagnosed on December 4th, 2014.
Davis was born in Salisbury, NC on November 1st, 1993. He grew up in Mooresville where he made many of his best friends. Davis played many sports, but always found himself drawn to basketball. He played on travel teams, school teams, and was the captain of the Lake Norman High School basketball team. He continued playing at Catawba College in Salisbury, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business with minors in Mathematics and Marketing. Following Catawba, Davis taught math and was the head JV and assistant Varsity basketball coach at Hargrave Military Academy before returning to Lake Norman High School in an equivalent role.
Davis was loved by his parents Brian and Gina Emerson, his brother Collin (wife, Madison) and sister Lexi Emerson, Grandparents Helen and Gary Emerson, Grandmother Deloris “Dee” and late Grandfather Leonard “Goofy” Szachara.
Davis had a special bond with Milo, his canine protector. Indy came along last year to provide high puppy energy, bringing much-needed moments of joy.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 14th at 3 PM at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Mooresville, NC followed by family visitation in the fellowship hall.
