Obituary

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Phillip Leonard Beach of Rougemont, September 30, 1951 – March 6, 2024. “Phil” served in the National Guard Reserved and after 6 years of service he received an honoree discharge in 1976. Phil was well known and loved by many co-workers as a high-voltage distribution/transmission lineman for 38 years. He worked many catastrophic locations devastated by storms restoring power on the east coast until retirement. During his free time, Phil spent the last 14 years opening his heart and home as a foster parent to many homeless animals supporting his wife’s passion & non-profit animal rescue. He always welcomed a needy dog with TLC. He and his wife fostered over 800 animals. Phil was also known as the best “fire starter” and spent many evenings around firepits with family and friends. Phil had a unique eye and could spot arrow heads in the thickest pastures. His unparalleled skill in honing knifes and knot tying stood as a testament to his craftsmanship. Phil’s gracious mountain man personality gave everyone a sense of warmth, comfort and belonging. He was truly the person you picture when you hear the phrase “he would give you the shirt off his back”.   His love of the outdoors and sense of humor was a joy to be around and brought light to everyone in his life.

Phil is survived by his wife, Rhonda Chandler Beach, sons, Phillip Leonard Beach and wife, Lana, and Samuel Alia Carroll Beach, Grandchildren, brother-n-law Darrell Chandler and fiancé Loren, Sister-n-law Sheila Beach and Gretel Beach, nephews, Justin Chandler and wife, Kristen, Marc Chandler and wife, Ashley, Daniel Beach and wife Lisa, Jeffrey Beach and wife, Kristi, and James Beach Jr.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Barrier Beach, father, Ernest Beach, brothers, David Robert Beach, James Andrew Beach, sister, Brenda Ray Beach.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday March 9 at 2 pm. Following the funeral service, we invite friends and family to join us at 9925 NC Highway 57, Rougemont NC 27572, to share food, memories, and support one another during this difficult time.
